Christiaan is a California-based native of The Netherlands and attempts to bring a global perspective to The New Evangelicals board and in his work in building online spaces for people to safely explore their faith. He enjoys engaging with people, facilitating lively discussions, and celebrating each individual’s unique approach to life and faith. Connecting with online communities gets him up in the morning (along with coffee). Throughout the week, Christiaan focuses his energy to build communities that are driven by the inspiring words and actions of Jesus, whether that’s in his full-time job as pastor, his role as elected official on the Board of Education, ​​or in his ongoing efforts to challenge harmful religious narratives and promote healing through his work with The New Evangelicals.

In his limited downtime Christiaan cherishes time with family and friends, and immersing himself in a good podcast, book, television show, or movie. He enjoys all sorts of sports and activities to keep himself energized and focused. Christiaan works mostly from home in the San Francisco Bay area.
