Juli Beth (JB) Hinds
JB is an urban planning consultant and Continuing Lecturer in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at UC San Diego. Her professional path was inspired by church youth group experiences, first at the Lawndale Christian Health Center in Chicago, and later with a church-based housing improvement program in Canton, Mississippi. JB teaches planning and advises government agencies throughout the US on infrastructure funding, land use regulation, and program development. She is passionate about building just, healthy, and prosperous communities where everyone can flourish and hopes to inspire her students to do the same – even when that work involves, in one of her kids’ words, “going to meetings and saying boring things about regulations, water, and money.” JB is committed to advancing TNE’s mission of human flourishing and non-dehumanization by serving on the board, especially if it involves “going to meetings and saying boring things about money.” She and her husband are active in outreach with unsheltered neighbors in San Diego, especially addressing basic health and sanitation needs. They love fishing, boating, family time, and fussing over their two very spoiled dogs.
